New Delhi: International Day of Peace or World Peace Day is annually observed on September 21. This day is celebrated around the world to strengthen the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
This day promotes global solidarity for building a peaceful and sustainable world.

The theme for the International Day of Peace 2022 is “End racism. Build peace.” The day will be dedicated to the aim of making a new world free of racism and racial discrimination.
HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE
The UN General Assembly established the International Day of Peace in 1981. 20 years after the day was established, the UN General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the day as a period where countries practiced non-violence and cease-fire.
