Two customers in Hyderabad have raised concerns about hygiene issues with Swiggy deliveries. Avinash reported finding a bone in his paneer biryani from Mehfil, a well-known restaurant franchise in the city, on social media platform X. This incident follows Sai Teja’s earlier complaint of finding a maggot in his chicken biryani from another Mehfil outlet, both of which were ordered through Swiggy.
“I ordered paneer biryani from Mehfil in Nizampet Kukatpally. It contained a bone,” wrote X user Avinash, who shared a picture of the meal.

Another Hyderabad resident, Sai Teja, raised further concerns about Swiggy. He reported finding a bug in his chicken biryani order from Mehfil, but from a different outlet. Sai Teja shared photos online showing the maggot in the biryani, for which he paid ₹318. Despite his complaint to Swiggy, he claimed to have received only a partial refund of ₹64.
Mr. Teja mentioned that the incident occurred the previous Saturday and advised others to avoid ordering from Mehfil Kukatpally. He also posted screenshots of his chat with a Swiggy customer care executive, who explained that the restaurants are responsible for packaging the food.
After some discussion, Swiggy refunded Sai Teja the entire amount for his biryani and suggested that he file a formal complaint with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
