Artificial Intelligence is quickly changing how we solve daily problems. Now, it’s even helping people overcome language barriers. In a fun example from Bengaluru, a young man used OpenAI’s ChatGPT to talk and negotiate with an auto-rickshaw driver in Kannada.
The smart idea was recorded and shared on social media by Sanjan Mahto. In the video, Mahto asked ChatGPT, saying, “Hi ChatGPT, you have to help me in negotiating with the auto driver in Bengaluru. The auto driver is saying that fare is Rs 200 and I am a student. Please negotiate it for Rs100.”

ChatGPT Talks Kannada, Auto Driver Lowers Fare!
Using ChatGPT’s voice assistant feature, the AI quickly switched to Kannada and shared the negotiation in the local language, It said, “Anna, this is the route that I travel every day and I am a student. Please come for ₹100.”
What happened next was a small but successful negotiation. The auto driver, who first asked for ₹200, agreed to lower the fare to ₹120 after a short talk. He said, “I had said 200 and came down to 150. Since you requested, I reduced another ₹30 and settled at ₹120. It’s not possible for me to go lower.”
Mahto happily agreed and got into the auto, all thanks to ChatGPT’s help!
Internet Applauds ChatGPT’s Smart Kannada Move
The video quickly went viral, with many people praising the smart use of AI in real life. Several users said that language barriers is a common problem for people who don’t speak Kannada in Bengaluru. It could now be solved with tools like ChatGPT.
One user commented, “Real use of AI! I appreciate your behaviour.” Another said, “I’ll use this trick with shopkeepers and vendors too!” A third added, “AI speaks Kannada so fluently!” while another simply wrote, “Speaking Kannada problem solved.”
