Bihar: A man who worked as a rickshaw puller and the vegetable vendor has founded a start-up called RodBez worth crores. He hired IITians and IIMS graduates to work with him.
The man, Dilkhush Kumar, is from a small village called Bangaon in Bihar’s Saharsa district. Earlier, he used to work as a rickshaw puller and vegetable vendor, but now he is the CEO of a start-up named RodBez, which is worth crores.
He has only completed Class 12. He wants to start his own business and offer cab services in Bihar. As a result, Kumar began Rodbez. The firm is not like other cab services providers such as Uber or Ola. It is essentially a database company that connects consumers with taxi drivers and provides automobiles for outstation travel of more than 50 km.
While talking to the media he said that graduates from reputable colleges like IIT Guwahati were hired to work at Rodbez, and they shared his vision. He further claimed that some IIM students have joined his firm on a part-time basis.
Talking about his past life he said that when he went for a job interview as a guard, he was deemed unpolished and ignorant. Dilkhush was also asked to identify an iPhone logo, which he couldn’t do because it was his first time seeing one. He never gave up, though, because he had a family to support.
As his father was a bus driver he learns driving from him and started the company with a second-hand car. Dilkhush and his team were able to raise Rs 4 crore in just 6-7 months after launching Rodbez. In the first phase, the firm is now delivering service from Patna to every village in Bihar. In the second phase, it will connect cities. Their goal is to connect every community in Bihar with a cab. They intend to spread the services outside Bihar in the future.
The finest aspect about Rodbez is the compensation offered to drivers. Dilkhush understands the drivers’ lives, and the company pays them between Rs 55,000 and Rs 60,000 every month.
