Bengaluru: A Bengaluru resident recently shared a troubling experience on the ‘Bangalore’ subreddit under the username @opeeornottopee69, pointing to the increasing problem of road rage in the city. He described an unexpected incident that occurred while he was riding his bike near the ISRO Layout.
The user recounted riding his bike towards ISRO Layout, turning after Sarakki Signal, and preparing to take a left turn when a tempo driver suddenly appeared on the wrong side of the road. Forced to stop and wait for the tempo to move, the user was met with the driver’s refusal to yield, even though the driver was in the wrong lane.
Just when he thought it was over, the situation took a startling turn. The user described how the tempo driver’s passenger ran at him with a stone, threatening to hit him. To avoid escalating the conflict, the user did not retaliate, but the two men continued their aggression. The driver and his passenger started hitting him, landing a hard punch to his stomach and head. Fortunately, the user was wearing a helmet, which likely prevented more serious injury. He couldn’t catch the vehicle’s license plate, fearing further attacks. Additionally, the user reported damage to his phone and bike caused by the assailants.

The situation was exacerbated by the indifference of bystanders. The user lamented that the attackers “casually walked away and no one around me tried stopping them,” as he sought help from the community. Sharing his ordeal on Reddit, he noted the incident occurred around 6:20 PM and pleaded for assistance, sparking widespread discussion.
The Reddit post quickly gained attention, eliciting numerous responses from sympathetic netizens. One user expressed, “Hope OP gets justice. So true about tempo drivers. Reckless and barbaric. I had a silly non-confronting encounter where a tempo driver was constantly honking behind me in broad daylight.” Another commented, “Tempos, auto rickshaws, drinking water trucks, and the arrogant cab driver ruined Bangalore. And forget about justice. There is no value for the common man.”
In response to the incident, the resident has filed a complaint at the Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station.
