Bangladesh is engulfed in turmoil as ongoing tensions escalate into widespread violence, particularly targeting Hindu communities. Protests against the Job Quota Scheme have morphed into communal violence, with numerous Hindu temples torched, homes set ablaze, women kidnapped, and several individuals lynched.

In a recent tragic incident, the house of renowned Bangladeshi singer Rahul Anand was set on fire by an enraged mob. Amid this chaos, a heart-wrenching letter has surfaced on social media platform X, gaining widespread attention.

Major Pawan Kumar, a Shaurya Chakra recipient, shared the letter on X, revealing its origin from a 12th-grade Hindu girl in Bangladesh. The girl pleaded for the letter to reach the Prime Minister of India, detailing the horrific situation facing Hindus in her country.

‘The worst thing happening in this country is the systematic attack and torture on Hindus. We are in a very bad situation which I cannot describe in words,’ the letter begins. ‘Extremist and terrorist groups have started unimaginable torture on us. Women and girls are being raped. They are firing on the houses and temples, looting and vandalizing the businesses of Hindus, extorting lakhs of money, and threatening to kill if not paid.’

She continued to describe the dire reality, stating, ‘The situation is much worse than what everyone is watching on social media. We are being told to leave our country. But WHY? We have the right to live in our country with all our rights, and I don’t see any good in leaving it to evil forever. Rather, everyone should come forward to stop all these evil forces forever.’

The girl’s plea concluded with a direct appeal to the Indian Prime Minister: ‘Sir, I request you very humbly to do something for us as soon as possible. It’s the most important thing that we can live in peace in our country with all rights. I know you all are worried about us. I request you on behalf of all Hindus of Bangladesh to please try your best to help us as soon as possible. And yes, sir, I want to thank you for everything that you are doing for us. At the same time, I would like to thank all the people of India for their concern and prayers for us. God save us.’

The letter’s emotional appeal highlights the severe crisis faced by Hindus in Bangladesh and calls for urgent international attention and intervention.
