Allegations and Cartel Operation
According to sources, Sadiq, who has produced five Tamil films, allegedly operated a cartel involved in sending Pseudoephedrine from India to Australia and New Zealand. Two weeks ago, four individuals from Tamil Nadu were arrested from a warehouse in Delhi in connection with this operation.
Sadiq's connections sparked a political confrontation, with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opposition parties in Tamil Nadu, launching verbal attacks on the DMK over his involvement.

Sadiq, who has ties with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), previously held the position of Chennai West Deputy Organizer (NRI Wing). However, he was permanently dismissed from the party on February 25 due to his alleged involvement with the drug cartel.
International Smuggling
The case came to light after authorities in New Zealand and Australia alerted Indian agencies about significant drug smuggling in their countries disguised as food products. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been investigating whether drug proceeds were utilized to fund film projects.
In February, New Zealand customs authorities and Australian police provided information indicating that substantial amounts of pseudoephedrine, concealed within desiccated coconut powder, were being dispatched to both countries. Additionally, the US Drug Enforcement Administration provided intelligence suggesting that the origin of these shipments was located in Delhi.
A collaborative effort between the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Delhi Police's Special Cell has successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking syndicate. In Delhi alone, authorities seized at least 50 kg of Pseudoephedrine.
Following extensive interrogation, officials disclosed that over the past three years, a total of 45 consignments had been dispatched. These shipments contained approximately 3,500 kg of Pseudoephedrine, valued at over ₹2,000 crore in the international market, as per reports.
