The CBI has alleged that 12 people from Patna were appointed to Group D posts in the Railways during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister. Officials have alleged that in lieu of these appointments, his family was given seven plots in the city and elsewhere. The plots belonged to the families of those 12 people.
This matter is related to the IRCTC, where the Lalu Yadav family and its associates were accused of allegedly offering jobs in the railways in lieu of land gifted or sold at throwaway prices. The CBI has filed a chargesheet against 14 people, including Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife, and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, under criminal conspiracy and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
