New Delhi: WhatsApp is testing several features of the app to make it a full-fledged social media app. Now, according to a report, WhatsApp is testing a major feature that may let you share photos in their original quality.
WhatsApp will soon allow you to choose the quality of a photo before sending it
According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta update of WhatsApp for Android – update 2.23.2.11, allows users to choose the photo quality before sending. This feature will allow users to send photos in high resolution or original quality.
Sometime in beta version 2.21.15.7, WhatsApp was spotted giving users three photo quality options – auto, best quality and data saver. However, even with the best quality option selected, photos were less compressed. On the other hand, data saver mode caused photos to be fully compressed.

But now in the recent beta, WhatsApp has a Settings button at the top, a tap that lets you choose the photo quality. This function will then allow you to send photos in original quality.
WhatsApp New Feature
This feature has been highly anticipated because every time someone needs a full-quality photo, they have to send it through Document. This process was problematic for iOS users because they had to first save the images as documents in the Files app and then send the document version.
With this new feature, WhatsApp will compete with Telegram as it has several other useful features.
It is not clear when WhatsApp will make this feature available to the public. However, since it was spotted in beta, expect it to arrive in a few months.
In other news, WhatsApp is also testing a voice status feature that will allow users to record their voice notes. This can save some time as opposed to typing, but the usability will vary from person to person.
