New Delhi: Elon Musk has confirmed that Twitter is set to increase the character limit from 280 to 4000. When asked whether Twitter plans to increase the character limit to 4000 or not, Musk replied “Yes” without providing further information. Twitter originally had a 140 character limit before it was increased to 280 in 2017.
Previously, the platform only gave a limit of 140 characters. On November 8, 2017, Twitter doubled the character limit from 140 to 280 characters.
Twitter to Extend Character Limit
Elon Musk recently said that Twitter will delete and free the names of 1.5 billion accounts that have been inactive on the platform for years. “Twitter will soon begin freeing up the namespace of 1.5 billion accounts. This is an apparent deletion of accounts without tweets and logins for years,” said the world’s richest man.
Meanwhile, Twitter Blue is now scheduled to relaunch today – nearly a month after it was suspended for inciting chaos on the platform through fake accounts. Twitter Blue — which offers subscribers a blue tick — will also be more expensive than before, but only for iOS users. A Twitter Blue subscription will cost iOS users $11 a month, as the company adjusts Apple’s 30 percent commission to its regular $8 a month fee, which will continue for other users. In other words, if you sign up for Twitter Blue on the web, you’ll pay $8 a month. Although iOS users have to pay extra, you can subscribe to Twitter Blue on the web and continue using it on your iPhone.
