Customisation Option: Hide Your Blue Tick

According to the Help page on Twitter, subscribers can now choose to hide their blue checkmarks on their accounts. This option will hide the checkmark on their profiles and posts, though it may still appear in some places, and certain features might reveal an active subscription. Note that while your checkmark is hidden, some features may not be available. Twitter plans to refine this feature for users’ convenience further.

History of Blue Tick System

Twitter introduced the blue checkmark system in 2009 to verify the authenticity of accounts related to celebrities, politicians, companies, brands, and news organizations. Initially, verification was free, but with the launch of Twitter Blue, the blue checkmark badge became one of the premium perks for subscribers.

Blue Ticks Removed and Reinstated for Some Users

On April 1, Twitter removed blue ticks from verified accounts, coinciding with the launch of the paid subscription service. This move affected prominent figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and more. However, many users regained their verification badges after a few days.

Twitter’s Logo Evolution

Elon Musk revealed that Twitter replaced its recognizable bird logo with the letter “X” as its new official mark. He hinted that the logo might continue to evolve, suggesting more changes in the future.

Growing User Base on Twitter X

Musk also shared that after organisational changes, the monthly users on Twitter X surpassed 540 million, indicating a new high for the social media platform.

Twitter Blue subscribers now have the flexibility to choose whether to display their verification ticks, giving users more control over their profiles and enhancing the user experience on the platform.
