New Delhi: There is increasing concern among academics in view of the increasing use of ChatGPT these days. More than 40 per cent of university exams in England are being investigated by students using AI chatbots like ChatGPT for cheating.

As per media reports, around 48 institplafutes have investigated to use ChatGPT in their evaluation from December 2022. At least 377 students have been investigated for using an AI chatbot in a university-assigned task and 146 have been found guilty, while dozens more are pending

According to reports, maximum cheating was done in the University of Kent. There around 47 students were tested for ChatGPT or other AI tools. Similarly, 41 students have been screened at Birkbeck, University of London.

However, due to this being a brand new technology, the investigation is taking a long time. Of the 35 investigations initiated so far, more than half of 19 have yielded no results and are still under investigation.

A survey was also conducted in this regard. According to this BestCollege survey, nearly 51 per cent students view using AI tools like ChatGPT as cheating or plagiarism to complete assignments and exams. However, they are still using it. According to unconfirmed data, one out of every five students uses it.
