The Chief Executive Officer of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their productive meeting focused on Google’s enduring commitment to India. Pichai’s appreciation was conveyed in a post on X, where he stated, “Thank You Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the terrific meeting today. We discussed Google’s continued dedication to India, our strategies for expanding our presence, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, and nurturing our collaborations.”

This significant interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Google and Alphabet’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, took place via a virtual platform on Monday, October 16.

During their conversation, PM Modi and Pichai delved into Google’s intentions to contribute to the growth of India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The Prime Minister commended Google’s partnership with HP in the manufacture of Chromebooks within India’s borders.

PM Modi also acknowledged Google’s noteworthy initiative in supporting 100 languages and advocated for the availability of AI tools in various Indian languages. He encouraged Google to explore the development of AI tools that could enhance the efficiency of governance, as communicated by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister warmly welcomed Google’s plans to establish a global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Pichai conveyed Google’s commitment to improving financial inclusion in India by capitalizing on the capabilities and accessibility of GPay and UPI.

In summary, this meeting underscored Google’s dedication to advancing India’s development journey, as emphasized in the official release. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to Google to participate in the upcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit, set to be hosted by India in December 2023 in New Delhi, as mentioned in the release.
