Google Maps is undergoing various changes that will directly impact driving. Although Google had announced in 2020 that it would discontinue the Assistant Driving Mode feature in Google Maps, the actual discontinuation is set to take place in February 2024. If you are driving, you will no longer have access to the Assistant Driving Mode feature on Google Maps starting from February 2024.
Google Maps’ Assistant Driving Mode provides a dashboard on the phone, offering features like media session, audio control, and map viewing. With the discontinuation of this feature, it might be replaced by Android Auto. It’s worth noting that Android Auto is a product of Google designed for the convenience of driving and connecting Android mobile to the car’s entertainment board.
