‘You Can Take It…’ Phil Salt Shrugs Off RCB’s Defeat Against SRH, Eyes Bigger Battles Ahead

Phil Salt claimed that a defeat in the league is preferable to facing one in the playoffs after his team lost the match against SRH in yesterdays IPL clash.

The star opening batter of RCB Phil Salt claimed that a defeat in the league is preferable to facing one in the playoffs after his team lost the match against SRH in yesterdays IPL clash in Lucknow at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Even after facing their fourth loss in this season Phil Salt wasn’t worried about his team’s performance and pointed out that having a bad day in the league stage is easier to manage than in the playoffs.

Phil Salt's Statement After RCB's Defeat

“That’s one way of looking at it. The other way is that we don’t mind having this kind of game now, rather than during the playoffs. Yes, you can take it as a disappointment, or you can take it for what it is — we’ve already qualified. We lost the game, and no one likes losing, especially in cricket. I hate the fact that we've lost, just like everyone else wearing an RCB shirt. But you'd rather have a result like this now than in an eliminator, for instance,” said Salt in the post-match press conference.

What Happened In The RCB Vs SRH Match

RCB lost a big opportunity to end in the first two spots of the IPL points table after SRH's Ishan Kishan led them back from the brink to win by 42 runs. RCB is now at the third place with GT being on top having 18 points and PBKS being at the second place with the same points as RCB 17 but occupying the second position due to net run rate difference of 0.134. RCB’s task became clear when the SRH set a tough 232, particularly after Kishan stayed at the crease and smashed 94 not out. Thanks to Phil Salt (62), Virat Kohli (43) and Jitesh Sharma (24), TN Thunder had gotten to 189 before being cleared out, but this was the first time that RCB had lost away from home this season.
