Fastest fifty in WPL

Earlier in the game, Sophia Dunkley became fastest player to smashed half-century in Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 so far. With this, Gujarat Giants registered highest power-play score in WPL (64/1) so far.

Dunkley bombardment ended when Shreyanka Patil removed her wicket. Dunkley hit a six and four, but she fell in the same over, caught at long-off.

“It is a really nice batting wicket. 200 is a pretty good score but RCB have some good players, so we need to keep them quiet. (On fastest fifty) It feels good, I was looking to be positive and get the team a good start. It might be hard to defend given the way the tournament has been going for us, but we’ve got a good bowling attack, so we back ourselves to win,” Sophia Dunkley on her inning in mid-match conference.

Previously, GG stand-up-skipper, Sneha Rana opted to bat first after winning the toss.
