Things are just not seeming to cool down for the newly appointed Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder was slammed by Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar after a dismal display of bowling in the 20th over against former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

During the match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, MI captain Hardik Pandya faced a daunting challenge from former CSK captain MS Dhoni in the final over of the first innings on Sunday, April 14. Dhoni unleashed three sixes and a double off the final four balls of the over, leaving Pandya reeling.

‘Worst Kind Of Bowling I’ve Seen’

Dhoni concluded the innings with an unbeaten 20 off 4 balls. Renowned commentator Sunil Gavaskar expressed his frustration with Pandya’s bowling during the commentary. Gavaskar criticized Pandya for delivering subpar balls to Dhoni, suggesting that it appeared deliberate, possibly out of respect for the senior Indian team member.

“Probably the worst kind of bowling that I’ve seen for a long, long time. It almost looks like I’ve had this embrace with my hero. I’ve got a bowling kind of delivery that he’s gonna hit for sixes. One 6 is fine. The next one again a length ball when you know that this batter is looking for a length ball to hit. The third ball again, a full toss on the leg side and he’s looking for it and hits it for a 6. Ordinary bowling, ordinary captaincy,” Gavaskar said.
