With the hype for IPL 2024 season building right from the auction, teams have started announcing some big announcements regarding their team in the 17th edition of the league.

One big change that could be seen this year will be former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli taking back the captaincy role to get his Bengaluru side their maiden IPL title this time round.

Sources close to the team have indicated that the 35-year-old Indian star batter is being considered for the leadership role coming into the new season.

Far Du Plessis is the current RCB captain who took the reigns from Virat himself. Virat had decided to be relieved from the role after the IPL 2022 season and wanted to focus only on his batting displays coming into the 2023 season.

However, many fans and pundits believe that what RCB needs to win their first-ever IPL title is for their talisman to come back and take what’s his rightfully.

It is still to be seen how Virat Kohli will react to this offer and whether he decides to play just as a player or lead the team when he takes the pitch.

Royal Challengers Bangalore came the closest to winning an IPL title in 2016 when Sunrisers Hyderabad handed them a narrow 8-run defeat.

Kohli took over the captaincy back in 2013 and led the team in 140 matches, winning 66 and losing as many as 70.

Virat Kohli has won almost everything to be won in cricket barring this league and will hope to change that when he wears the red and black outfit this time.
