New Delhi: The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games is all set to kick off from 28 July, 2022 at Birmingham and India contingent have geared up to break the previous records. The Indian badminton players at Commonwealth Games 2022 will be eyeing on increasing their medal tally from last edition when they bagged 6.

PV Sindhu

Olympic medallist and Singapore Open 2022 champion PV Sindhu will be the Indian badminton players to watch out for as she is arriving at this event beamed with the confidence of winning her maiden Super 500 badminton title.

The first and only woman from India to have won two Olympic medals begins her campaign in CWG in the category of women’s singles on August 3. Meanwhile, Canada’s Michelle Li, Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour, and Singapore’s Yeo Jia will be Sindhu’s stiffest challengers, however, India will be roaring for a gold medal finish from its superstar.

The star duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who were a part of the Thomas Cup-winning team, will eye on changing their medal from silver to gold.

The young shuttlers from South India gel well together and have played in major world events. Satwik and Chirag have won eight BWF titles playing together. Moreover, both of them have performed exceedingly well in the last couple of years, winning the India Open title in 2022, Thailand open in 2019 and the French Open in 2019 which was a Super 750 event.

Kidambi Srikanth

Kidambi Srikanth, silver medallist in the World Championship 2021 and former world no. 1 is the biggest medal hope of India in the men’s single at the CWG 2022. The silver medalist in the last edition played a significant role in India winning the prestigious Thomas Cup and remained unbeaten in all his singles matches.
