The SRH team’s owner delivered a much-needed pep talk to lift the team’s spirits following their loss to KKR in the IPL 2024 final. It was a “Knightmare” for the SunRisers, who suffered a devastating 8-wicket defeat at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26. The franchise’s official social media handle posted a heartwarming video featuring owner Kavya addressing the team’s dressing room.

Kaviya Maran Appreciating SRH’s Record-Breaking Season

In her address, Kavya expressed her pride in the team’s efforts, highlighting how they defied expectations and broke numerous batting records this season. She also thanked the Pat Cummins-led side for reaching the final after finishing at the bottom of the table in IPL 2023.

“You all have made us so proud. I had to come here and tell you that. You have redefined how we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us. The off-day had to happen today, but a really great job, all of you with the bat and ball. Thank you so much,” Kavya said.

“And I think even though we finished last place last year, I think all the fans came out in huge numbers because of the potential you guys had. Everyone’s talking about us and even though KKR won, I am sure everyone’s still going to be talking about the style of cricket we have played. Thank you guys, take care, and don’t look like this. We played the final, it wasn’t just any other game. I mean all the other teams have been watching us tonight. Thank you guys, I will see you soon,” Kavya added.

Before leaving, Kavya made sure everyone on the team had a smile on their face despite their disappointment. She was visibly emotional when SRH lost to KKR in a one-sided match. Known for her unwavering support, Kavya attended almost every match to cheer for her team.

SRH were bundled out for the lowest-ever total in an IPL final, with KKR bowlers restricting them to 113 runs. The KKR batters then chased down the target of 114 runs within 11 overs to claim the coveted IPL title.
