India women’s national cricket team cricketer Smriti Mandhana took a spectacular catch during the WBBL 2024 match between the Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers. Adelaide Strikers registered a brilliant 30-run win over Scorchers wherein Mandhana shined with the bat and played an innings of 41 runs from 29 balls. Adelaide Strikers were able to put up a first innings score of 169/6 in 20 overs. Apart from Smriti Mandhan’s 41-run knock, Laura Wolvaardt top-scored with 48 runs from 28 balls whereas Katie Mack also took a 41 run innings.

After showing her spark with the bat, Smriti Mandhana shined in the field as well and took three catches. One such catch was during the 15th over of the second innings when Carly Leeson tried to hit Amanda-Jade Wellington over the covers region. However, Leeson mistimed the ball and it went in the air. At the end, Smriti Mandhana kept her eye on the ball and grabbed a brilliant catch while diving and falling backwards.

Perth Scorchers were stopped for 139/8 in 20 overs and ended up losing the match by 30 runs. Brooke Halliday played an innings of 47 runs from 44 balls whereas Sophie Devine played 35 run innings. However, as wickets kept on tumbling at regular intervals, Scorchers weren’t able to maintain the much needed momentum for the innings and ended up on the losing end.
