Parthiv Patel asserted that Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli have secured their positions in the top order for India, and there’s no intention to alter that setup. He emphasized the preference for a left-right batting combination at the top, with Virat Kohli ideally slotting in at No. 3 for the team.

Shubman Gill expressed his sentiments, acknowledging that despite his strong performance with nearly 900 runs in the IPL 2023 season, he might not be selected for the T20 World Cup squad. He conveyed his acceptance of the potential decision and stated his intention to support the Indian team wholeheartedly, even if it meant watching the tournament from home.
In the current season of the Indian Premier League, Shubman Gill has amassed 320 runs in 10 matches for his team. Despite his personal performance, his team, GT, has struggled, losing 6 out of their 10 matches so far in the tournament. Gill has maintained a strike rate of 140.97 across his innings.
