Former Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel before the T20 World Cup selection meeting, expressed the opinion that while Shubman Gill might merit consideration for the tournament, he is unlikely to secure a spot in the squad. Patel noted the rich talent pool in India’s top order, suggesting that Gill may need to bide his time for an opportunity.

Parthiv Patel asserted that Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli have secured their positions in the top order for India, and there’s no intention to alter that setup. He emphasized the preference for a left-right batting combination at the top, with Virat Kohli ideally slotting in at No. 3 for the team.
