In a high-stakes clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Capitals, the Knight Riders emerged victorious by 7 wickets, showcasing a dominant batting performance.

The Delhi Capitals had set a target of 154 runs for the Knight Riders to chase down, posting a total of 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite some strong individual performances, including a quickfire innings from Prithvi Shaw, Delhi fell short of a commanding total.

In response, the Kolkata Knight Riders approached the chase with confidence and determination. Philip Salt, opening the innings, played a scintillating knock, smashing 68 runs off just 33 deliveries at an incredible strike rate of 206.06. Sunil Narine provided crucial support with a quickfire 15 runs, laying a solid foundation for the chase.

Though Delhi managed to dismiss Rinku Singh early, the Knight Riders’ skipper Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten knock of 33 runs off 23 balls. Venkatesh Iyer also contributed a valuable unbeaten 26 runs, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase.

Despite the efforts of Delhi’s bowlers, including Axar Patel who claimed two wickets, Kolkata’s batsmen remained undeterred, ultimately achieving the target with ease. With this win, the Kolkata Knight Riders strengthened their position in the tournament standings, while the Delhi Capitals faced a setback in their quest for playoff qualification.
