The BCCI is considering the option of holding the latter part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. According to reports+, some BCCI representatives are currently in the UAE to investigate the feasibility of relocating the IPL’s second phase to the Gulf nation. This consideration stems from concerns about potential clashes between the IPL schedule and the forthcoming General Elections. The Election Commission is anticipated to reveal the election dates on Saturday, March 16.

The BCCI will decide on relocating the IPL to Dubai after the Election Commission of India announces the election schedule on Saturday at 3 pm. Currently, senior BCCI officials are in Dubai exploring the feasibility of hosting the latter half of the IPL in the city.

Numerous reports suggest that certain franchises have already instructed their players to submit their passports. For those unfamiliar, the first half of IPL 2024 was also conducted in the UAE due to the General Elections. Last month, the BCCI unveiled the schedule for the first half of the IPL, comprising 21 matches.

On April 7, the Lucknow Super Giants will clash with the Gujarat Titans in the final match of the initial phase of the tournament.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, will kick off the event against the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on March 22 at 8 pm IST.

The opening weekend will witness two doubleheaders, with the Punjab Kings hosting the Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon, followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders welcoming the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening.
