Gujarat Titans (GT) ended Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) four-match winning streak in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season with a three-wicket victory at the Sawai ManSingh Stadium on April 10. Despite RR setting a target of 196 runs, GT faced a challenging chase. However, they staged an impressive turnaround in the final five overs, needing 73 runs from the last 30 balls but successfully chasing down the total. Despite this defeat, RR maintains their position at the top of the points table, leading ahead of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In addition to losing the match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a double blow as their captain, Sanju Samson, was slapped with a significant fine for maintaining a slow over rate during the clash against GT.
The IPL release mentioned that as it was the first instance of his team’s violation of the IPL’s Code of Conduct concerning minimum over rate offenses this season, Samson incurred a fine of ₹12 lakhs.

Rajasthan Royals displayed a formidable performance with fiery half-centuries from Riyan Parag (76 runs) and captain Sanju Samson (68 not out), setting a commanding total of 196 runs for 3 wickets. Gujarat Titans, however, were determined to put up a fight. Opener Shubman Gill led the chase with an impressive 72 runs. Yet, the pivotal moment arrived in the closing stages. A crucial partnership between Rahul Tewatia (22 runs off 11 balls) and Rashid Khan (24 runs off 11 balls) secured the victory for Gujarat on the very last ball of the match. This thrilling win marked Gujarat’s third victory in the IPL 2024 season. Had Rajasthan emerged victorious, they would have made history as the first team in IPL history to win five consecutive matches at the start of the tournament.
