Former India opening batter Virender Sehwag trolled Pakistan cricket team, who are on the brink of elimination from the ongoing World Cup 2023, bidding them good bye and and a safe flight home.

The Babar Azam led side became virtually out of the World Cup semi final race after New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by five wickets on Thursday in Bengaluru. They will lock horns with defending champions England in their last league match at the Eden Gardens on Saturday and they have a near-impossible task ahead of them.

If Pakistan bat first and score 300, they have to bowl out England to 13. They need to maintain a margin of 287 runs if they score more than 300 runs in Kolkata. On the other hand, if Pakistan bowl first. their chances look very slim. Even if they bowl out England for 100, they need to chase down the total in 2.5 overs, meaning win with 283 balls to spare.

Ahead of Pakistan’s game against England, Sehwag took to social media to take a savage dig at Pakistan.

“Pakistan Zindabhaag ! Bas yahin tak tha jo tha. Hope you enjoyed the biryani and the hospitality. Have a safe flight back home. Bye Bye Pakistan !,” the former India cricketer wrote on X.

The 45-year-old also took a dig at Sri Lankan team saying that the side played just like Pakistan in the match against New Zealand where they were bowled out for just 171.

“Pakistan ki khaas baat hai ki jis team ko Pakistan support karti hai, woh team Pakistan ki tarah khelne lagti hai (One special thing about Pakistan is that whichever team they support that side begins to play like Sri Lanka). Sorry Sri Lanka,” wrote Sehwag.

If Pakistan fail to qualify for semi-finals which seems a possibilty, the New Zealand will advance to the knockouts. The Kane Williamson led side will face India in the first semi-final of the ongoing ODI World Cup on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On the other hand, second-placed South Africa will take on Australia on Novenber 16 in the second semifinal at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
