New Zealand won the tri-series tournament by defeating Pakistan in the National Stadium, Karachi by 5 wickets. William ORourke has been named player as Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling at the finals. He took four wickets in 9.3 overs by just pairing 43 runs. Pakistan Could Have Scored More Runs

The target of 243 wasn’t huge but Pakistan did fight hard, especially in the first half of the chase. Naeem was charged up and Aga and Shaheen Afridi applied the pressure as well but New Zealand kept having partnerships and things started to slip away from Pakistan‘s hands when they missed few chances to get rid of Tom Latham. The pitch today also wasn’t a belter as it was in the last game at this venue where Pakistan chased a target of 350. For Pakistan only captain Mohammed Rizwan and Salman Aga managed to create an impact with their 46 runs and 45 runs innings respectively. Tayyab Tahir was also seemed good with the bat, but was dismissed by Jacob Duffy on 38.

New Zealand’s Performance

Apart from William ORourke, Michael Bracewell and captain Mitchell Santner took two wickets each while Nathan Smith and Jacob Duffy bagged only one wicket for themselves. After an early dismissal of Will Young, all the Batters including Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham gave a wonderful hand with the bat with Darrell Mitchell slamming 57 runs and Tom smashing 56 runs.

Pakistan’s Bowling

The Pakistani bowlers did not manage to keep the black caps restricted as the fall of wickets was not very early, Shaheen Afridi, Salman Agha and Abrar Ahmed took one wickets each while Naseem Shah managed to get two wickets in the purse. This tournament has turned out to be a pretty good warmup just before the champions trophy which is scheduled for 19th of February.
