Ahead of their ODI World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka, stylish India batter Suryakumar Yadav donned a disguise and turned camera-man for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to interact with some cricket fans around the Marine Drive in his home city of Mumbai.

The 33-year-old-Yadav put on a full-sleeve shirt to cover his arms full of tattoos. He also wore a mask, a cap and sunglasses to hide his face before stepping out of his hotel room.

“Presenting Suryakumar Yadav in a never seen before avatar. What’s our Mr. 360 doing on the streets of Marine Drive? Shoutout, if you were on SURYA CAM last evening,” reads the caption posted on the official Instagram page of the Indian Cricket Team along with the video.

Before heading to the streets, Surya tricked teammate Ravindra Jadeja with his looks. It took Jadeja a while to realise it was Surya, who was pretending to be the media person.

Yadav, unrecognisable in his attire, asked fans about the Indian team and how they were playing. He also questioned fans who were their favourite cricketers while many of them said Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav fan would go on to say Surya should bat high up the order.

The fan said that he was no one to comment on how Surya should bat but hoped to see him do well. Another fan said that it was a joy to watch Surya bat and use his wrist to best effect.

Very soon, Surya removed his mask and revealed his identity, leaving the fan shocked. He clicked pictures with the fans and then called it a day as the cameraman.

Suryakumar, who didn’t get the opportunity to play in the initial part of the ongoing ODI World Cup, did well in India’s last group stage game against England. After India’s top order collapsed, Suryakumar scored a gritty 49 off 47 balls to take India to a competitive total, which eventually turned out to be a winning one in Lucknow.

The right-handed batter would look to continue his good form with the bat as India, who are the only undefeated side in the tournament, lock horns with Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.
