After a convincing seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in an ODI World Cup 2023 match, India skipper Rohit Sharma on Thursday gave an update on Hardik Pandya’s Injury, saying that there is nothing really major to worry and they will assess it on tomorrow morning.

Virat Kohli starred with the bat as India made it four wins from four at the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 with a dominating win over Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

After restricting Bangladesh to a par score of 256/8, India chased down the target in 41.3 overs with major contributions from their top order. While Shubman Gill hit a fifty, Rohit scored a brisk 48 before Kohli hit the winning runs with his 48th ODI century.

“He (Hardik) pulled up a bit sore, nothing really major to worry about. We’ll see how he pulls up tomorrow morning and then plan on how to go forward,” said Rohit after the game.

Bowling first, India received a blow in the ninth over when Hardik hurt his ankle and limped off the field. The star all-rounder seemed to have twisted his ankle while trying to stop a shot from Litton Das with his right leg but ended up slipping in the process.

The 30-year-old Hardik, who landed awkwardly on his left leg, got up and tried walking but fell back to the ground as physio had to rush to the field. With Hardik in visible pain, he was advised to walk off the field and India captain Rohit Sharma asked Kohli to bowl the remainder of the over.

The former India captain bowled the remaining three deliveries, conceding two runs. Notably, this was the first time in six years that Kohli has bowled in a One-Day International. Virat last bowled a delivery in ODIs against Sri Lanka on August 31, 2017, conceding 12 runs in two overs.

Overall, the 35-year-old Kohli has taken eight wickets across formats in the 161.5 overs in international cricket.

Hosts India will now face New Zealand in their next ICC World Cup 2023 match at Dharamsala in front of a full house this Sunday.
