Notably, it will be the third successive year where India and Pakistan will face each other in an ICC event in October, having previously met in the T20 World Cup 2021 (UAE) and T20 World Cup 2022 (Australia).

Rohit Sharma led India to start the tournament as the top-ranked Men’s ODI team in the world and are among the favourites to win the World Cup for the first time since 2011.

The match against Pakistan on October 14 will be the third for the tournament hosts India, who will start their campaign against Australia in Chennai on Sunday before facing Afghanistan in Delhi on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Pakistan will travel to Ahmedabad from Hyderabad, where they face Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Babar Azam’s side got their tournament underway with an impressive 81-run win over Netherlands on Friday.

Earlier, reports had said that Indian Railways will also run special Vande Bharat trains to Ahmedabad for fans in order to make travel easy for them.

The special trains will run from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra and will halt at Sabarmati and Ahmedabad both of which are in close distance to the Narendra Modi stadium.
