New Delhi: Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien has retired from international cricket. This explosive batsman has announced his retirement through a social media post.
Kevin O’Brien wrote that “I have enjoyed every minute of playing for Ireland. I have made many friends on the field and I have many fond memories of playing with the national team.”

Kevin O’Brien wrote in his post that he was thinking to retire after playing in the upcoming T20 World Cup. But he made the decision to retire due to lack of opportunities. Brian, who played the first match for Ireland in 2006, played many great innings in his career of 16 years. He scored a century against England twice.

Kevin O’Brien didn’t want to retire now
Kevin O’Brien said in a statement on Twitter, “Today I announce my retirement from international cricket after 16 years and 389 matches for my country. I hoped to finish my career in the T20 World Cup in Australia, but since last year’s World Cup I haven’t been selected for the Irish team, I think the selectors and management have moved on.”
Record of fastest century in World Cup
A special record is recorded in the name of Kevin O’Brien, who made his international debut with the One Day International (ODI) match against England in June 2006. He played the most memorable innings of his career in March 2011. In the ICC World Cup against England, Brian scored a century in just 50 balls, which is still the fastest century in the history of ICC World Cup.

Kevin O’Brien hit 13 fours and 6 sixes during his match-winning knock-off of 113 runs. During this, he had completed a century in just 50 balls. On the basis of this innings, Ireland successfully achieved the target of 328 runs and defeated England.

Kevin O’Brien last played in the year 2021. This match was played in T20 World Cup 2021. In which Ireland suffered a humiliating defeat against Namibia. Coincidentally, that match proved to be Kevin’s last international match.
