In a significant development, dynamic Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been cleared to play in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. According to reports from Express Sports, the explosive batter has recovered from his injury and is ready to take part in Mumbai Indians’ upcoming IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals.

A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly provided this update to a reputable media outlet, stating that Suryakumar’s fitness was assessed through practice matches before he received clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to participate in the lucrative tournament.

“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games,” the source said.

“He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting,” he added.

Initially ruled out of India’s tour of South Africa due to an ankle injury, Suryakumar’s condition worsened as he developed a sports hernia, forcing him to miss the IPL 2024 season. However, after undergoing rehabilitation, he is now poised to rejoin the Mumbai Indians’ squad, potentially leading to Naman Dhir being dropped to accommodate him in the playing XI.
