In a significant move ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of Gujarat Titans following the departure of Hardik Pandya, who was traded by Mumbai Indians. Gill, aged 24, has showcased remarkable performances during his stint with GT, earning the Orange Cap in the previous season while playing for Gujarat.

Hardik Pandya, serving as captain for two seasons with Gujarat Titans, led the team to a title win and secured a runner-up position in another. In the preceding season, Gujarat Titans faced defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the final, where Ravindra Jadeja’s crucial performance steered CSK to victory.

Gujarat Titans Acquired Gill for Rs 8 Crore:

Shubman Gill was roped in by Gujarat Titans in 2022 with a hefty price tag of Rs 8 crores. He has been an integral part of the team for the past two seasons. In 2022, Gill played a total of 16 matches, scoring 384 runs at an average of 34.50, with a strike rate of 132.33.

During the 2023 season, Gill played 17 matches, accumulating 890 runs at an impressive average of 59.33 and a striking rate of 157.80. His performance included three centuries and four half-centuries.

Shubman Gill’s IPL Career:

In his six-season IPL career, Shubman Gill has participated in 91 matches, amassing 2790 runs from 88 innings, averaging 37.7. Gill boasts three centuries and 18 half-centuries in the IPL, with a strike rate of 134.07.
