GT vs CSK: Match 59 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed Gujarat Titans host defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in a repeat of the IPL 2023 final on May 10.

Gill-Sudharshan Steal The Show in Ahmedabad

Put to bat first, the Gujarat crowd was treated to a batting masterclass as GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan looked unbeatable on the day and showed aggressive intent on the night.

While Shubman Gill scored a blazing 104 on the night, his opening partner Sai Sudharshan also raced to his maiden hundred which took them to a record 210-run stand against CSK. This was the highest partnership so far in IPL history.

CSK bowlers were gasping for air on the night as both batters maintained a decent strike rate throughout the innings which showed the team’s fighting spirit despite having no more than a 1% chance of qualifying for the playoffs this season.

The record partnership helped last year’s finalists post a mammoth 231/3 on the board for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. to chase.

CSK on the other hand is in a tight race to secure one of the playoff spots with three teams level on 12 points in the leaderboard. However, with the pitch looking to favour the batters, it will be interesting to see how CSK openers start the chase to keep their playoff hopes right on track.

Shubman Gill’s 4th IPL hundred came on time as the Indian batter is looking in prime form ahead of the Indian Cricket team’sΒ  T20 World Cup campaign.
