Match 53 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed the Punjab Kings shift to their new home from Mullanpur. The scenic Dharamsala is hosting the Punjab Kings who are taking on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Himachal Pradesh on May 5.

CSK Manage To Post 167/9

Put to bat first, CSK opener Ajinkya Rahane got dismissed early on for just 9 runs. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad also failed to deliver for his side like he has been doing this year and was sent back to the pavilion for 32 runs.

Punjab Spinner Rahul Chahar went on a spree and took two wickets in two balls in his first over. Shivam Dube witnessed another golden duck as he has been having a dismal run since his name was announced in Team India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

With a score at 101/5 at 12.4 overs, CSK batters failed to score at the death as well and had to be content with an average 167/9 on the day.

Ravindra Jadeja’s 26-ball 43 was eventually the top score for the visitors as they would hope to defend their total in the 2nd innings. While MS Dhoni was the fan favourite in the ground, the captain cool was dismissed for a golden duck by Harshal Patel which silenced the Dharamsala crowd for a while.
