Ending the IPL auction as the most expensive player this season, Australia’s Mitchell Starc hasn’t been able to give the expected return for the Kolkata Knight Riders and is yet to justify his price tag for the franchise. However, with the season just starting, fans and pundits are expecting a good return from the Aussie pacer.

Aakash Chopra, former Indian cricketer, expressed confidence that Kolkata’s Mitchell Starc will rediscover his form in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Delhi on March 4. Starc, who became the most expensive purchase in IPL history during the 2024 auction, has faced scrutiny for his performance this season. He has struggled to take wickets and has conceded a significant number of runs in Kolkata’s matches so far.

“One of the players I will pick today is Mitchell Starc because he has conceded 100 runs in two matches. It can’t happen that he concedes 50-odd runs every time. He will have Prithvi Shaw and David Warner in front of him. Prithvi Shaw – incoming ball,” Chopra said

Since joining Kolkata for a hefty price of Rs 24.75 crore, there have been doubts about whether Starc will justify his price tag in IPL 2024. Despite Kolkata’s successful start to the season, Starc’s lackluster performance has been a concern for both the player and the franchise. He has failed to take any wickets and has conceded a total of 100 runs in the team’s first two matches.

In a recent YouTube video, Aakash Chopra expressed his belief that Starc will bounce back and perform well in Kolkata’s upcoming match against Delhi in IPL 2024.

“So, I am very curious and excited to see what Mitchell Starc does on this ground and pitch. I feel he will do well. I feel Mitchell Starc will turn it around. He has looked like a pale bowler thus far, but he is too good a player to be pale for too long. So my focus will be on him,” Chopra added.
