Shreyas Guides KKR To 222/6

The first of the Sunday doubleheaders saw the home side put to bat first in the scorching heat of Kolkata. KKR openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine started well as Salt’s aggressive intent was evident from the first ball itself.

Scoring at a strike rate of 342, Salt’s explosive 14-ball 48 gave KKR the perfect starting in the powerplay. However, his partner Sunil Narine couldn’t continue his great form which saw the team stutter a bit.

With RCB getting wickets in quick succession, it was skipper Shreyas Iyer (50) and Andre Russell who contributed well in the dn to take the hosts to an impressive total of 222/6 in their 20 overs.

For RCB, it is a chance to get their 2nd win after a string of poor results. The visitors would have to start well with the focus on openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis in the 2nd innings. RCB is rock bottom in the table and would have to do something special to make it to the playoffs this year.
