Put to bat first, RCB suffered an early setback as skipper Faf du Plessis was dismissed cheaply by a delivery from Harshit Rana. However, Virat Kohli took charge for the Challengers and drove the innings forward with an aggressive strike rate in front of the Chinnaswamy crowd.

Kohli then proceeded to achieve his 52nd half-century in the Indian Premier League, providing Bengaluru with a solid start against Kolkata at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli accomplished this feat after facing 36 deliveries in the eagerly awaited IPL encounter. This innings enabled Kohli to surpass Hyderabad’s dynamic wicketkeeper, Heinrich Klaasen, as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024.
Kohli’s unbeaten 83 took RCB to a competitive total of 182/6 in front of their fans.
KKR Cruise To Victory
In reply, KKR openers Phil Salt (30) and Sunil Narine (47) gave KKR a bright start with a strike rate above 10 per over. Despite losing the openers in quick succession, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer carried forward the chase with good intent. Venkatesh Iyer’s brilliant fifty on the night saw the visitors cruise to victory on the night, claiming their 2nd victory in IPL 2024.
