Match 28 of the Indian Premier League saw bottom-placed Delhi Capitals get their 2nd win of the tournament after a 6-wicket win away from home against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 12.

Debutant batter Frazer McGurk starred for the Capitals as his resilient fifty steered the visitors to an all-important on the night.

DC Bowlers Dominate Proceedings

Opting to bat first, KL Rahul’s team didn’t have an ideal start as opener Quinton de Kock fell early to a delivery from Khaleel Ahmed. Despite KL Rahul’s effort to hold the innings together with a score of 39, Delhi’s bowlers maintained pressure on the home side, taking wickets at regular intervals.

Kuldeep Yadav, returning to the starting lineup along with Mukesh Kumar, spearheaded the bowling attack with 3 wickets. Mukesh also chipped in with one wicket, leaving Lucknow struggling at 94/7 after 13 overs. Khaleel Ahmed, who dismissed two batsmen early on, returned to complete his spell and ended with impressive figures of 2/41 in 4 overs.

Ayush Badoni’s explosive unbeaten knock of 55 runs towards the end helped Lucknow Super Giants set a target of 168 runs for Delhi Capitals.

The partnership between Arshad Khan and Ayush Badoni, worth 73 runs, now stands as the highest 8th-wicket partnership in the history of the tournament.

Frazer McGurk Impresses On Debut

In reply, DC openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner failed to take Delhi to a convincing score courtesy of Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur who took the duo out of the game at a collective total of just 40 runs.

It was skipper Rishabh Pant (41) and debutant Jake Frazer Mcgurk (55) who took the responsibility upon themselves to take Delhi over the line. Frazer McGurk’s blazing knock supported by Pant’s resilient took Delhi to 146/4 in 15.3 overs.

McGurk impressed on his DC debut as his 5 sixes and 2 boundaries were a sign of good things to come for the franchise who are looking indeed for some inspiration this season.

Tristan Stubbs and Shai Hope eventually took Delhi over the line comfortably as they jumped to 9th on the table.
