Mumbai Indians’ newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya was greeted at his former home stadium with loud boos from the fans following his big move from Gujarat Titans. Expecting a loud welcome by the fans be it positive or negative, Hardik would’ve known that he would be the center of attention when he landed in Gujarat ahead of his team’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 24.

However, he wouldn’t have expected that the fans would boo him every single time he comes in contact with the ball.

Hardik Pandya Booed By Fans

Deciding to bowl first after winning the toss, Hardik was greeted by Gujarat fans with what seemed like a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd before the game.

With Rohit Sharma having to leave the leadership role at the team, he was seen to indulge in discussions during the game as well and the ego clashes expected by fans didn’t seem to get in between the team proceedings.

Fans Chanting ‘Rohit, Rohit’

In fact, at one point of time the fans were also heard chanting ‘Rohit, Rohit’ to tease the newly appointed MI skipper during the match toss.

Hardik Pandya had a really good outing with Gujarat Titans over the last two years, taking the newly introduced franchise to their maiden IPL title in their very first season. He then followed to take his side to another final last year but failed to make it two in a row after facing defeat in the final against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.
