New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal surpassed former Mumbai Indians (MI) Lasith Malinga to become the second-highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) history.

Chahal’s bowling against RR

The 32-year-old spinner on Wednesday, April 5 removed Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma to achieve the huge milestone in his career. Chahal now has 171* wickets in 133 IPL matches while Malinga, who played for Mumbai Indians in his entire IPL career – had 170 wickets in 122 games in the premier domestic tournament. Interestingly, Malinga is the bowling coach of Chahal’s IPL side RR.

Chahal removes Jitesh Sharma 

Chahal, who was the Purple Cap holder of the 15th edition of IPL. He came to bowl his final over and he got hit for a four by Shikhar Dhawan, who then rotated the strike to Jitesh Sharma.

Chahal bowled a yorker and Jitesh tried to play it over covers for a six but fond Riyan Parag in deep, who completed the catch. The latter fell for 27(16).

Chahal is only behind former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legendary all-rounder DJ Bravo, who picked 183 wickets in 161 matches.
