New Delhi: Batting first at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders posted the mammoth target of 204/7 against the visiting Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Thanks to Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s fighting fifty and Shardul Thakur’s joint fastest fifty of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 that inspired KKR.

Knight Riders was in deep trouble when Thakur came to bat in, Gurbaz and Russel were departed in consecutive deliveries by David Willey. It seemed that KKR will collapse soon, but Shardul have some other plans today, to fight back till the end. With blistering fifty he became the joint fastest fifty scorer in the 16th edition of IPL.

This was also Shardul Thakur’s maiden IPL half-century. Shardul Thakur went into top gear and equalled Buttler’s record for the fastest fifty of the season so far. Buttler, the Rajasthan Royals opener and winner of the Orange Cap in 2022, scored a rapid half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

Gurbaz’s innings
Rahmanullah Gurbaz played fighting innings as KRR fought back in the game. In his whole innings Gurbaz smashed six boundaries and three sixes at the strike rate of 129.55. But in 11.2 overs Karn Sharma gave RCB much needed breakthrough as he removed Gurbaz.
