New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Rider on Wednesday, April 5 announced the signing of England's right-hand batter Jason Roy for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

"Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed England’s Jason Roy for INR 2.8 crore for the TATA IPL 2023 from his base price of INR 1.5 crore. Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament owing to a lower back injury while Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his unavailability for the season," IPL said in a statement.

Roy's IPL journey
The 32-year-old decided to be out of the 2020 edition after the Capitals signed him for INR 1.5 crore. He joined SunRisers Hyderabad for IPL 2021 as Mitchell Marsh's replacement and scored 150 runs in five games with a half-century.
In 13 IPL innings, Roy has 329 runs at 29.91. He has also scored 1522 runs in 64 T20Is with eight half-centuries.
