IND Vs ENG: Yashasvi Jaiswal Equals Virat Kohli’s Mindblowing Feat

Yashasvi Jaiswal's remarkable performance in the 2024 India vs. England series saw him equal Virat Kohli's record with 655 runs, making them joint-second-highest run-getters. India secured victory, marking their 17th consecutive series win at home, with Jaiswal playing a pivotal role.

In the home Test series against England in Ranchi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opener, matched Virat Kohli’s impressive record, becoming the joint-second-highest Indian run-scorer with 655 runs. However, Jaiswal’s innings came to an end on the fourth day of the 4th Test when he was caught by Joe Root off James Anderson’s delivery with a spectacular diving catch at backward point.

Sunil Gavaskar holds the top position on the list with 732 runs scored in the six matches against the West Indies in 1978/79. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been enjoying a remarkable run in the ongoing series against England. He kicked off with an aggressive 80 runs in Hyderabad and followed it up with a spectacular knock of 209 in Vizag, setting the stage for India’s victory. He continued his brilliant form with another double century (214*) in Rajkot, guiding India to take the series lead. Comparatively, Virat Kohli, in the 2016 five-Test series against England, had two centuries and as many fifties in eight innings, with his highest score being 235.

Notably, the series between India and England in 2024 saw Yashasvi Jaiswal equalling Kohli’s record of 655 runs, making them the joint-highest run-getters in a series between the two teams. India clinched the series against England with a five-wicket victory, marking their 17th consecutive series win at home.
