IND Vs ENG: Virender Sehwag Takes A Dig At England After Series Defeat
ENG Sehwag
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, renowned for his witty tweets, mocked the England cricket team following their defeat against India in the fourth Test match. With the game held at the JSCA Stadium on February 26, India secured an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series, with one match remaining in Dharamshala.
After India's convincing five-wicket victory, Sehwag took to social media and shared the World Test Championship rankings table. In his post, he remarked that while England may provide entertainment, it's India, Australia, and New Zealand who excel in the "boring" task of winning matches.
Sehwag's comment alluded to England's position in the WTC rankings, where they languish at the eighth spot with five losses and three wins out of nine matches. In contrast, India holds the second position, with New Zealand leading and Australia following closely at third.
India maintained their second spot in the WTC rankings, having secured five victories and suffered two defeats in the 2025 cycle so far. This series defeat marked England's first under the Bazball era, having won four out of eight series and drawing three, with their only loss being against India.
Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, the Indian team staged an impressive comeback after their loss in the Hyderabad Test, winning three consecutive matches to clinch their 17th consecutive home series victory. Despite a tense moment on Day 4 of the Test match, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel's composed partnership ensured India chased down the target of 192 runs comfortably.
