Team India Star Reveals He’s Been ‘Humiliated, Lost Self Respect’
Hanuma Vihari
Expressing frustration with the Andhra Cricket Association's treatment, senior cricketer Hanuma Vihari announced his decision to no longer represent the state team. Andhra's journey in the ongoing Ranji Trophy concluded with a narrow loss to Madhya Pradesh in the quarterfinals.
Vihari criticized the association for disregarding player autonomy and stated that he has lost his self-respect due to their actions. Despite his affection for the team's progress, he emphasized feeling restricted by the association's attitude.
Initially serving as Andhra's captain, Vihari relinquished the role after the first match against Bengal, citing personal reasons. However, he now reveals that he was pressured by the association to step down following an incident involving him admonishing a player during the game.
Despite putting his body on the line for the team, including playing with a forearm injury in a previous Ranji Trophy match, Vihari feels undervalued by the association's actions. He expressed disappointment in prioritizing individual interests over his contributions to the team and to Indian cricket.
Vihari also stated that the entire team is aware of the incident, underscoring the significance of his decision to speak out against the association's mistreatment.
