On February 12, Indian cricket sensation Shubman Gill achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the quickest as well as youngest player ever to reach 2,500 ODI runs. Playing in his 50th ODI match against England at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill surpassed the previous record held by South African great Hashim Amla, who had reached this mark in 51 innings.

Since his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2019, Gill has shown exceptional form. In this match, he needed just 25 runs to reach the 2,500-run milestone, which he accomplished with a boundary off Gus Atkinson in the 10th over. Adding to his achievements, Gill also climbed to the second position in the ICC ODI batting rankings, moving ahead of his captain Rohit Sharma. The rankings now show Gill with 781 rating points, while Rohit holds 773 points.
