New Delhi: In the third and final session of the day, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja once again came to India’s rescue. Jadeja gave respite to Rohit Sharma and Co as he ended Marnus Labuschagne’s resistance in the middle.
Before returning to the pavilion Marnus Labuschagne played an impressive knock along with Usman Khawaja in the middle. Labuschagne and Khawaja stitched a 59-run partnership after the early departure of Travis Head.

On the 3rd ball of the 35th over, Jadeja bowled a fuller-length delivery which Labuschagne played on the back foot. The ball kept a bit low as Labuschagne was bowled. Australia’s score was 108-2 when Labuschagne was dismissed. He scored 31 runs in 91 balls, striking 1 four in the process.
Steve Smith comes to bat
The Aussies would be banking on their captain Steven Smith to make a statement and bat deep. With quite a little time remaining in day 1’s play, the Australian would be aiming to get a lead of 50 runs. The Aussies would be aware of the fact that they have to bat last on the track where a lead of around 200 runs would be decisive in these conditions.
