New Delhi: Australia bounced back well on the first day of the 3rd Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Wednesday after they lost the first two Test matches in Nagpur and Delhi.
Australia’s bowling in first innings
Banking on the maiden Test five-wicket haul from Matthew Kuhnemann and the astonishing 60 runs from opener Usman Khawaja, Australia totally dominated the entire day. At the stumps, the visitors stand at 156 for 4 wickets, and with 47 runs lead.
After skipper Indian Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first, Matthew Kuhnemann ripped up the Indian batting line-up with 5 wickets for just 16 runs. Following that, Nathan Lyon claimed 3 wickets. Todd Murphy also joined the club when the right-hand off-break bowler scalped crucial Virat Kohli.

Khawaja falls after 60 runs
Usman Khawaja played and superb knock of 60 runs before got trapped by Ravindra Jadeja. Khawaja was very selective while choosing his sweep shot. He had played just five sweeps and reverse sweeps in 144 balls for 8 runs. He had instead opted for using the vertical bat predominantly during the innings.
Jadeja’s magic in Indore
From the Indian dugout, only Ravindra Jadeja impressed with his performance with the ball. The left-arm spinner scalped four wickets and ended the well-built partnership of 59 runs between Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. He first removed Labuschagne and then finally got rid of Khawaja.
