New Delhi: India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved the massive feat under his belt on Friday as he picked up 26th 5-wicket haul in Test matches at home. With this, he went passed former spinner Anil Kumble’s of record 25 5-wicket hauls at home in the longest format of the game.
Highest 5-wickets haul in Test at home
This was Ashwin’s 32nd 5-wicket haul in Test cricket as he led India’s bowling attack on Day 2 of the 4th and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Ahmedabad.
Ashwin completed his 5-wickets haul as he removed Todd Murphy for 41 runs in the last session of Day 2. Ashwin scalped his first wicket, which was also India’s first breakthrough as he send back opener Travis Head.

Breaks Khawaja-Green’s partnership
However, Ashwin waited for more than 3 sessions to pick his second wicket. This was the crucial wicket for India as Cameron Green and Usman Khawaja was building strong partnership. Ashwin’s strike brought an end to a 208-run partnership between Green and Khawaja that ground down the Indian bowling attack.
The 36-years-old spinner, brought back India into the game as he picked up the wickets of Alex Carey (0) and Mitchell Starc (6) in quick succession.
